Many of us grew up watching friendly Kermit the Frog on a television show called Sesame Street. Sure, we remember reading stories about frogs, which turns into a handsome prince after receiving a kiss. However, in the Bible, frogs were certainly less endearing when he became a terrible plague facing Egypt. Indeed, frogs have been referred to the animal throughout our culture in books, movies, cartoons and video games. Unfortunately, before too long, we only our memories to remind us of the frog.

Some frog species produce a chemical used as a painkiller for humans, while one species is even associated with a chemical substance that inactivates the virus that causes AIDS.
List of known amphibian species are in danger of frogs and toads, salamanders, newts and little-known group of legless, worm-like creatures called caecilians. Caecilians are ecologically useful because as predators they consume harmful insects by the millions. There have been numerous explanations for the drastic decline in amphibians over the past two decades. Some reasons, such as the development of human resources, risk habitats, air pollution and global climate change are put forth ..
